Morale Entertainment who brought Neil Armstrong and other astronauts to Adana in March, 2010, did it again with the Indy 500 Centennial Tour. In March, the U.S. Consulate and Morale Entertainment worked with Cukurova University and scheduled a presentation of astronauts Neil Armstrong, Captain Jim Lovell, and Gene Cernan to a roomful of university students and staff.

On January 19, 2011, the U.S. Consulate in Adana, together with the Indy 500 Centennial Tour participants visited the Mithat Ozsan Amfisi hall of Cukurova University once again. The group includes legendary race car driver Mario Andretti, three times Indy 500 winner Johnny Rutherford, Al Unser Jr., Larry Foyt, Davey Hamilton, and many other famed drivers and personalities. The group met with Cukurova University Rector, Alper Akinoglu, followed by a presentation to enthusiastic students and sports fans, during which the famous drivers talked about their experiences and told stories of inspiration and entrepreneurship.

After the presentation ended, Mario Andretti presented a special limited-edition racing helmet with everyone’s autographs to Rector Akinoglu. Many media representatives who were present took pictures of Alper Bey in his colorful helmet and business outfit, standing next to the legendary Mario Andretti. The day finished with a crowded autograph session that included free poster and invitation card giveaways.
